| Genital Herpes - How It Affects Women |
Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is known as herpes simplex 2, while cold sores are known as Herpes simplex 1. Genital herpes causes painful blisters which form on the labia of the vagina. Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease and can be contracted through unprotected oral or vaginal intercourse. It can also be contracted through anal intercourse. Herpes may remain dormant in a woman’s body for a month if not longer before the first actual outbreak.

Not letting potential sexual partners know that you have genital herpes is extremely irresponsible and unsafe, because herpes spreads every time one has unprotected sex during an outbreak and can be passed to others by the carrier even when they have no signs of a herpes outbreak.
Herpes on the genital areas can be very painful, especially for women, as outbreaks of the herpes virus can occur inside the vagina or cervix. Herpes may also appear outside the vaginal area in clusters. The frequency of Herpes outbreaks can differ from person to person. In some cases having herpes may be dangerous for some women as they can affect pregnancies.
Male Herpes
Women who plan to give birth need to notify their doctors that they have herpes. During birth, it is thought that if you have an active outbreak the herpes may spread to the baby's body when it is born. This is because herpes in some women only occurs in the cervix with no symptoms. If you suspect you have herpes but are not sure it is best to consult a gynaecologist or doctor who can perform a pap smear that will be able to tell if you have contracted herpes.
The first outbreak of genital herpes is the generally the worst and lasts the longest. As time goes by the outbreaks become less frequent, the blisters smaller and more contained and they heal faster.
There is no way to completely kill the herpes virus and a cure has yet to be found. But there is good news; there are many natural, drug free products which naturally help to make herpes outbreaks heal faster and occur less frequently.
